What is Teeth Whitening?
Teeth whitening is the used to correct teeth discoloration and stains. Certain beverages such as:
- Red wine
have a tendency to stain your teeth. This can make an otherwise dazzling smile seem a bit dull. At Deeter Dental, Drs. Terry, Matt, and Lucas Deeter understand that your smile is important to you, and that confidence in the whiteness of your smile can make all the difference in how you respond to others. If you would like to correct tooth discoloration, Deeter Dental can offer you the brighter, whiter smile you desire and deserve.
What kind of tooth whitening treatment does Deeter Dental offer?

Teeth Whitening At Home Treatment
At Deeter Dental, we offer professional-grade take-home tooth whitening systems so that you can enjoy the benefits of the most advanced whitening treatments available in the comfort of your own home. We use the Opalescence® take-home whitening system which consists of a whitening gel available in different strengths. This treatment allows our dentists to create a treatment customized for your needs.
Unlike over-the-counter whitening gels, Opalescence uses customized tooth whitening trays created from impressions of your teeth. The trays hug the contours of your teeth, allowing the gel to reach not only the front surface of your teeth, but the edges and sides as well, creating a brighter white without the uneven coloration created by non-customized tooth whitening systems.
Because we can offer you a variety of strengths in tooth whitening gels, you may choose the shade of white you would like your teeth to be. Over-the-counter teeth whitening treatments usually offer a teeth whitening gel which is much less powerful than what Deeter Dental offers. This may require several treatments in order to achieve comparable results.
Professional Teeth Whitening vs. over-the-counter tooth whiteners
The take-home tooth whitening treatment you receive from us is available with stronger whitening agents than over-the-counter tooth whitening treatments. This allows you to achieve a brighter white by the end of your tooth whitening treatment. Also, our tooth whitening treatment uses a customized tray which is created from impressions of your teeth. Therefore, the trays fit your teeth perfectly so you get a more even whitening treatment than with strips or generic whitening trays.
Whitening Options for Chemically Stained Teeth
If your teeth have been stained by chemicals or are genetically discolored, traditional tooth whitening systems may not be able to achieve the results you desire. These types of stains affect the internal layers of your teeth. Most tooth whitening systems bleach the outer layers only. However, porcelain veneers can be a very effective option to whiten chemically stained teeth.
Teeth Whitening Results
The results of your tooth whitening treatment depend on a few factors:
- Cause of your tooth discoloration
- Severity of your tooth discoloration
- Strength of tooth whitening gel used
- Your adherence to the prescribed treatment
Teeth which are more darkly stained may require a stronger tooth whitening agent to become noticeably whiter. Also, if your teeth are stained by foods and drinks such as coffee and tea, they are more likely to whiten well than teeth which have been chemically stained or are genetically predisposed to a darker tint.
My husband has not been to a dentist in 15 years…. this place was wounderful to him. They were also kind to my daughter.
How to keep teeth white after teeth whitening?
When attempting to keep your teeth white, it really depends on your diet. Depending on the types of food and drink you frequently enjoy and your desired whiteness, you may need to reapply the tooth whitening treatment as frequently as six months. It is more common, however, for patients to request a second treatment after about a year.
