Our practice offers sedation for adults to ensure they make their appointment and are able to obtain the necessary dental work they may need. Sedation can be used for extensive procedures or even simple cleanings based on the patient’s individual levels of anxiety.

Options for sedation

The team of Deeter Dental are pleased to offer two methods of sedation:

• Oral conscious sedation – using a prescription medication, patients can take a pill orally before they are transported to the dental office for their appointment. By the time they arrive, they are at ease and relaxed. Patients can answer questions and follow instructions even when under this medication. The patient is transported back home after their appointment to rest, and may awaken with little to no recollection of their visit at all!
• Nitrous oxide – another option available to our patients is that of nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide is a gas that is odorless and colorless. It can provide almost immediate relaxation when administered through the nose in the dental chair. Patients feel extremely relaxed while staying awake during their procedure. The dental team administers oxygen at the end of treatment to bring the patient back to their normal state of mind, allowing them to transport themselves home.
